Soon after my friend repainted the 1960 Chevrolet Impala, we started discussing the import of another car for his collection. Since we both love the late 50s finned classics, we decided to look for a car from the same era again. After a discussion of the makes and model years, he decided that he wants most 1959 Cadillac. I was not surprised with his choice – these cars are among the most sought-after models from the 50s, because of their bold and with big fins. Keeping in mind the high prices these cars were going for, I had to find a complete project for total restoration. It was not easy at all, because many of the cars were missing trim parts, had broken glass, some were missing even the engines etc. We needed a complete car. It took me three months of constant search when at last I came upon an Ebay listing. There were few days left until the end of the no reserve auction. We both liked the green color with green interior and the 6-window roof line was different compared to the flat top of the 1960 Impala which was a plus for this exact car. So, I took part in the bidding. Winning of the auction was quite a challenge. I was bidding with two other bidders and bid until the last moment. I won the auction without exceeding the budget. The deal was finalized quickly and easy with the seller. He was a very young guy, but an experienced salesman. He was dealing mostly with 1959 Cadillacs. When the car arrived (April 2016), we were impressed with the beauty of the model. It was an ambitious project after all, but worth the efforts and the restoration. My Friend started with the brakes and bodywork and then proceeded with the interior. Now the engine is in a process of rebuild. Next step will be transmission rebuild and a paint job.
