I was looking for cars for the first two people to whom I delivered cars when a friend called with a request for finding a car for him as well. He sold his 1973 Ford Gran Torino few months earlier and was looking for a new American classic to enjoy. He wanted a 1968 or 1969 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and since by that time there was only one in Bulgaria (that was expensive), he decided to refer to me. I did a careful research across the USA and sent him a selection of ads, so he can get an idea what is available on the market.
From all the listings we both liked most the first listing I sent him – it was a Craigslist’s ad for a beige, one owner 1968 Sedan Deville. It was a California car with 103 000 original miles, that was stored inside. The original owner passed away a long time ago and one of his sons put the car in a dry storage. After sitting for 20 years he decided to sell it. I asked a good friend of mine who lives in Los Angeles area to get in touch with the seller. He was serious and reliable person who was in the insurance business and had a couple of old cars as well. We finalized the deal quickly and I ordered the transport of the Cadillac.
I remember that the transportation company showed almost at midnight to pick up the Cadillac, so the seller was mad. The only thing I could do was to apologize him. The car arrived in Bulgaria in May 2017 in Sofia. My friend and I were impatient to see it. It was a non running car, so it was very important the body and stainless to be in good shape. We both were delighted to see how solid the body was, especially the undercarriage. There was only one rust spot under the excellent vinyl top. The original paint was also decent for its age. The interior was in good condition except for the driver’s seat upholstery.
My friend brought the car to the mechanic shop of a friend of ours, where the Cadillac was started very soon and run very well. The new happy owner started enjoying it and attended many parades and car events across the country. The Caddy got many arrangements as a wedding car and for commercials. It can still be hired for special occasions. You can review it in the For Rent section of the website and can get in touch with me, so I can provide you the contacts of his owner.
