As time went by, my friend with the 1960 Impala, 1959 Cadillac and the 1960 Windsor decided that he wants to have an affordable big American convertible. We discussed a running and driving car from the 70s. Since the full-size Chevys were already very expensive I started checking the ads for similar Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Pontiacs. My friend didn’t want any big Fords from that era although they are great cars.

There were quite a few cars on the market, but what caught my eye was a Craigslist’s ad for this 1973 Buick Centurion with the big block 455. It was conveniently located in Denver, Colorado area where I have a very good friend of mine. He was very cooperative and went to see the car and talked to the seller. We made an excellent cash deal and few months later the car arrived in Bulgaria 07.2017. The body was in very good condition keeping in mind that the car is a convertible. The power roof worked fine as well as the engine and transmission. Only the interior needed some attention and the paint was faded as we expected.
I was able to test drive it and was impressed with the sound of the mighty engine and the good performance of the big block 455 engine. Very soon the car started taking part in different events, because of its attractive style and its uniqueness in my country. My friend sold it in 2020 to another guy that I knew, who was a keen fan of the American cars. Unfortunately the new owner passed away less than an year later and wasn’t able to enjoy the Buick for a long time.
