This convertible turned to be the last car that I got for my friend, who was the first person for whom I imported a classic American car from the USA. After I helped him sell his 1978 Trans am to a buyer in France, he asked me to find him a first-generation Mustang convertible and a coupe. Both had to be 6-cylinder with a manual transmissions. They had to be complete projects at the lowest prices possible. As you can imagine 6-cylinder convertibles with manual transmission were very rare cars. After a month or so searching I found one project that was not totally complete. The missing parts were not a big issue through, because they can be found at different Mustang parts suppliers. We tried to buy it. Unfortunately, the seller backed up. I suspect that the ad was a scam, because at one point we offered a face-to-face deal to the seller. I found a friend in Chicago area who was ready to cooperate. This is the moment when the seller stopped responding and deleted the online ad.
So, I started over the search. My friend was impatient to get a new car and I managed to convince him that he doesn’t need another project. The white 1966 Mustang coupe was on the way to Bulgaria, and he knew that it will need a lot of work. Due to the low budget, we decided to switch to a post 1971 Mustang convertible. He agreed that this time we will look for the car in the best possible condition without being picky for the type of the engine and transmission. We both liked this blue convertible. It has a 351 V8 with the C6 automatic transmission. The seller was not cooperative at all. The communication was slow and he didn’t provide much information. We bought the car but had to wait for a while until the transportation company was able to set a convenient time for pick up for both sides. Anyway, the car was loaded and arrived in September 2023 in Bulgaria. It still needed some attention to be roadworthy, but generally was an easy fix. Much to my regret my friend didn’t manage to register and enjoy it, because he suddenly passed away. He was the person for whom I delivered most vehicles so far and a big part of the contents of this website is present thanks to him. I will always miss him.
